Help Make Room for Reading in our Community

The Family Literacy Partnership of Athens (FLiP) invites everyone to a fun, innovative event to learn about the many things happening in our community to promote literacy and Make Room for Reading. We are holding a silent auction of 10 book shelves painted by local artists – they would make terrific gifts for any book-lover in your life. Please stop by for light refreshments, to check out beautifully decked out book cases, and to chat with our partners.

Make Room for Reading will be held Wednesday, December 16th from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at the Taylor-Grady House, 634 Prince Avenue. The event is free, with light refreshments donated by Taziki’s Mediterranean Grill.
Representatives for each of our partners will be there sharing information about their efforts to promote literacy and make reading accessible to all: the Athens Area Community Foundation, the Athens-Clarke Literacy Council, the Athens Regional Library System, Books for Keeps, Family Connection-Communities in Schools of Athens, Learning Ally, and United Way/Wee Read. The event is presented in conjunction with Junior League of Athens and LEAD Athens.

Any donations or auction proceeds will go toward joint efforts by FLiP to promote inter-generational literacy in Athens.
