After launching their “Get Comfortable” campaign, Creature Comforts was able to fundraise over $65,000 for local nonprofits by asking for donations and giving profits from their tours. They donate to Athens-based causes such as Action Ministries, Sparrow’s Nest Mission, Athens Community Council on Aging, Athens Area Homeless Shelter, and Athens Land Trust. Creature Comforts also announced the relaunch of their popular “Automatic” Pale Ale. The celebration for this Normaltown themed can included a Launch Party featuring special pizza, burgers, and dance parties hosted by the local restaurants and bars.
This week, St Mary’s Hospital in Athens was awarded four prestigious awards from the American Heart and American Stroke Associations. This was the seventh consecutive year that St. Mary’s received the Gold Plus award for stroke care, the highest level of achievement in its class. In addition to the Gold Plus award, St. Mary’s received the Target: Stroke Honor Roll for the fifth consecutive year, a Get with the Guidelines Silver Award, and the Mission Lifeline: Bronze Award.
With AthFest only a week away, downtown is preparing for the crowds and fun of this local arts and music festival.
