Athens Clarke County Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is seeking applicants for the 35th session of the Department’s Citizen Police Academy. The Academy will begin Thursday, February 11, and will end on April 28. Classes start at 6:30 p.m. at the East Precinct, 3035 Lexington Road. This is a 12-week course with classes held one night a week for three hours. Instruction includes career development and training, patrol functions, criminal investigation, communications and 911, crime prevention, SRT, and many other functions of the police department. Election of New officers at Southern Mutual Insurance Company

ATHENS, GEORGIA (December 22, 2015) – Dan DeLamater was elected President of Southern Mutual Insurance Company effective January 1, 2016 at the company’s recent Board of Directors meeting. The Board of Directors also elected Kim McClain as Vice President and Secretary, Mitch Parham as Assistant Vice President, and Mike Sorrells as Treasurer. Holiday season is once again here. We all have so much to be thankful for, but there are always those in our community who aren’t as lucky as the rest of us. The Salvation Army Auxiliary needs your help this holiday season with organizing and preparing gift bags for children and families in our community.
